Kholosi is an underdocumented Indo-Aryan language spoken in two villages (Kholus and Gotav) in Hormozgan, Iran. This portal is meant to present, in an accessible format, some of the fieldwork I (Aryaman Arora) have done on Kholosi for the class LING-001 at Georgetown University for Fall 2020. My informant was Ahmed Etebari, a 29-year-old native speaker from Kholus living in Bandar Abbas.
The purpose of this work is to compare Kholosi with other Indo-Aryan languages, and examine its diachronic development (most of that work is yet to be published, and will be put up here once it is). Past work on Kholosi was done by Anonby and Bahmani (2016), and we can expect a synchronic grammatical description in the coming years based on extensive fieldwork done recently by Maryam Nourzaei at Uppsala University.
